Motorways & Roads
If Sky City were a real city, we wouldn't be able to hold as much traffic on the motorways as we are supposed to, because our roads are quite small. So all the time, we are updating our plans for the road networks for more efficient travel. On the Sky City Island, everyone drives to the left because we are from New Zealand and we are proud of it! (Please note: lots of the things mentioned on this page is quite hard to understand without a map. So if your interested in learning more about the roads, we recommend the use of the Minecraft World Map overview. To go there, click the link that says "Download City Here!" at the top of the page. If you scroll down, there will be an overview map that you can scroll in and out of.)
Motorways
From what we have decided at the moment, we will have around 10 motorways and freeways going in and around the city. The main one will be the Sky City to Carlos City Freeway (M1). We have calculated that the average freeway on the Sky City Island will have about four or five lanes on each side. M1 has six lanes when it approaches the interchange and leaves the mansion from Sky City, excluding two lanes of truck only lanes coming from the Marina Bay Dock area where most of SC's goods come from; where lots of container ships dock to unload, on both sides of the freeway.
Interchanges
In the map overview from minecraft world map, you will see a large freeway (M1) going out from under the airport, and heading towards a large interchange that we call the "MegaBout" which is a huge roundabout structure (that's not finished) that goes one way (left), and has eight lanes. There will be ramps going on and off the MegaBout with either two lanes, three lanes, or four lanes. The freeways that connect to the interchange is the Sky City to Carlos City Freeway (M1), the Marina Bay Freeway (M3), the Sky City Bay Freeway (M5), and the Lake View Freeway (M6). There MegaBout is so big that the circumference of the circle is over two kilometers. You could drive around the MegaBout, switching lanes, and no one would notice (unlike small roundabouts where cars would be held up if you keep going round). What is also cool about this interchange is that you can have fun going at 160 kilometers an hour (100 M/H) (in the middle lanes where there are less cars), and still not get told of by the police. There will be a few more major interchanges around the island, where multiple roads meet.
Road Bridges
(We consider lots of ideas and possibilities, so lots of these ideas wouldn't be confirmed). Right now, we have purposed a bridge that will connect the Sky City Island with other islands around the area. If this bridge doesn't go ahead (highly likely that it won't be built) then we will not build other islands around the main island. If it does go ahead, then we will have about three or four small islands that the bridge can go to, and split up into a \/ or \|/ sort of shape, and go to different islands. The main bridge will definitely be a cable-stayed bridge, and the one connecting to another island nearby will probably be a suspension bridge. we're not entirely sure what we should call the bridges, but one obvious name could be the Sky City Bridge, but, that's sort of boring. There are also a series of bridges crossing the main river of the Centre City. We have already made one bridge there and we think with only some roads crossing the river we will have about twenty by the time we finish that part of the city. There could be a few other bridges on the island, we there could be another river that it has to cross.
